Image Depot vs HoneyBook
These mostly solve two different problems -- worth saying plainly before any table of numbers. Image Depot delivers and sells your photos to clients. HoneyBook runs the business side of a creative studio: invoicing, proposals, scheduling, and client communication -- and since July 2026 it delivers client galleries too. The two can be used together, not one instead of the other.
| Image Depot | HoneyBook | |
|---|---|---|
| Photo galleries & client delivery | The core product -- watermarking, screenshot protection, albums, custom domains | Built in since July 2026: branded client galleries for photos and video, with watermarks, password protection, expiration dates and downloads, included with its plans (unlimited storage on Essentials and up) |
| Digital downloads & print sales | Built in, 0% commission on paid plans | No print store or per-photo sales listed on its own pricing or photographer pages -- HoneyBook points photographers to its Pic-Time integration for a print store |
| Contracts & e-signatures | Included on every plan, no separate fee | Included, as one piece of a much larger client-management suite (invoicing, proposals, scheduling, lead forms) |
| Client CRM, invoicing, scheduling | Not offered -- outside this platform's scope by direct decision | The core product -- unlimited clients/projects, a scheduler, automations, QuickBooks integration on higher tiers |
| Payment processing fee | Standard rates from your own Stripe account (PayPal coming soon) -- Image Depot adds no processing fee, and funds settle directly to your bank | Card fees from 2.7% + 10¢ (its plan table lists 2.9% + 25¢) and 1.5% for ACH bank transfers, per HoneyBook's own pricing page |
| Pricing | $9.99–$119.99+/mo, Free plan available | $29/mo Starter, $49/mo Essentials, $109/mo Premium (billed annually) -- no free tier beyond a 30-day trial |
If what you actually need is a place for clients to buy their photos -- digital downloads, prints, packages, straight from the gallery -- that's the part HoneyBook doesn't sell on its own: its galleries deliver photos and video, and for a print store it points photographers to its Pic-Time integration. If what you need is a booking calendar, an invoice a client can pay online, or a proposal before a shoot even happens, that's not something Image Depot tries to do, and we won't pretend otherwise. The real overlap is delivery and contracts. Both can hand a client a branded gallery. Both can get a document e-signed: Image Depot's version is scoped to exactly that -- a template, a send, a signature -- included on every plan with no extra line item, rather than one feature inside a much bigger (and separately priced) business-management suite.
